TPMS

A TPMS, or tire pressure monitoring system, uses a sensor on each tire, either mounted inside on the valve stem or bolted onto the outside, to send live pressure and temperature readings to a display in the cab. This lets a driver catch a slow leak or overheating tire well before it fails on the highway, which is much harder to notice with tires that are already dual or triple axle setups.

RV-specific systems typically monitor more tires than a standard vehicle TPMS, since they need to cover the tow vehicle or motorhome plus a trailer or towed car, often six to ten sensors in total. Some systems also support relay repeaters for trailers with a long distance between the sensors and the cab display.

The most common oversight is buying a system with too few sensor slots for the full combination of tow vehicle and trailer tires, or forgetting to reprogram sensor positions after rotating tires. Checking total tire count across the whole rig before buying avoids needing a second purchase later.
